etrailer Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class

Rob: Hey, everybody. Rob here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the etrailer Aluminum Cargo Carrier on our 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300. Having our cargo carrier is going to come in handy for a lot of different things, whether we're going on a road trip, we need to move all that gear to the outside so we can make some more room for passengers or pets, or maybe we just don't want to put a roof rack on our car so we had to put all the gear on top. This is a really easy, convenient way to carry quite a bit of gear with you rather than having to cram everything inside. Not to mention, if we go camping, we would go swimming, we've got some dirty gear with us. You really don't want to put it inside of a Mercedes, spend a bunch of time cleaning up afterwards. more

Stromberg Carlson Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Mercedes-Benz M Class- Video

Stromberg Carlson Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Mercedes-Benz M Class

Today on our 2015 Mercedes Benz M-Class, we're going to be doing a test fit of the 23x60 Stromberg Carlson Cargo Carrier, with a 500 lb capacity, part number CC-100. This cargo carrier features a steel mesh floor with support braces that come across. With the steel mesh floor it's going to do a really good job of letting any dirt and debris that may be on any items that you have back here allow to fall to the ground. This cargo carrier should stay pretty clean for you. Then here around the edge it's got this raised wall that's going to help keep anything in place that you put on the cargo carrier. It's also got a number of pre-drilled holes all along the outside in that raised wall to serve as tie down points to make sure that your cargo stays secure. Back here I'll show you the ground clearance at the rear. That's going to be at the bottom of this bolt right here, which is going to be right about 8 3/4 inches. more

MaxxTow Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

Today on our 2015 Mercedes Benz M-Class, we're going to be doing a test fit on the 48 by 21 Maxxtow aluminum cargo carrier. Features a 500-pound capacity. Part number MT70422. On this cargo carrier, it's got these nice slots that make up the floor here so it's got an open design which definitely makes it easier to keep clean because these things collect, you can simply brush them off into the gaps there. It's got these brackets to help support it to give that 500-pound weight capacity which with that being the capacity, you do want to be sure to check to see what ton weight your vehicle can handle. Back here, we got reflectors which help to add visibility so people know that there's a little bit of distance added onto the rear of the vehicle. With that being said, let's see how much distance has been added to the rear of the vehicle. more

Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

Today on our 2015 Mercedes Benz M-Class we're going to be doing a test fit on the CURT cargo carrier, part number C18150. On this particular cargo carrier it's got a very nice design. We've got these crossrails on the floor of the cargo carrier that help support it. It's got this nice steel mesh floor that let any dirt or debris fall through so that this doesn't get terribly built up with dirt. Then here around the edges we've got this nice rail that goes all the way around the outside that allows you to clip anything you need as a tie down point just about anywhere on this rail. That also helps give support for anything that may be sitting back here. Here at the rear of it we'll see what our ground clearance is. more

Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class

Today on our 2014 Mercedes Benz GLK class, we're doing a test fit of the Curt 20 by 48 cargo carrier. That part number is C18110. This works for both 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches and has a weight capacity of 300 pounds. Now although it does have that high weight capacity, it is very lightweight, so it's easy to put into and take out of our hitch. First thing we are going to do is take a few measurements here. Starting off with our ground clearance, we're going to have about 15 inches to the bottom of that bolt, and that's is because we have a raised shank in the back, which will lift our carrier even higher than our hitch. Overall to our vehicle, we are adding about 26 inches and our closest point is going to be about 6 1/4 inches away. As for exhaust, we have dual exhaust on the vehicle today, it comes straight out sitting about 10 1/4 inches away, so if you are worried about heat sensitive materials, I'd keep those inside your cargo area. more
